Eclipse (old but not published)

Wednesday 29th of March, 2006 witnessed an eclipse at 12:40 pm which lasted four minutes. This rare and special meeting between the sun and moon occurred previously in 1999: seven years before. Have you ever wondered what the moon told the sun when they met???

Seven years passed, seven long years since we last met, seven years of missing and burning in vain, seven years since we last touched, seven years during which I’ve always wondered about our unshed tears, about our hopes and fears, about our lost cheers…

Once again we meet and the world shall rudely witness our few moments of intimacy together. Do you know how much I’ve waited for you? How many poems I’ve written for your enchanting golden rays? How much I desired you, then hated you, then lusted you all over again?

Isn’t it ironic? The fact that time is measured by us, yet we seem not to have control over it, otherwise wouldn’t we be able to change the cycles of our lives? Of everybody’s life? Why has time always been the envious enemy of lovers all over the world? Till when am I going to ask rhetorical questions whose answers I fear to know?

I can’t but with extreme weakness cherish and benefit to the extent our four minutes stolen from the jaws of time and I’ll ask you once again: “why shine on them?” and you shall answer me with your warm voice that forever turns me on: “simply because….. They look up to us…..”
