Remember how in previous posts I mentioned wanting to join the event “بالأسكلة عل بسكلة”? Well, I finally have! And although it didn’t go the way I thought it would, it was exceptional anyway!
I was so excited because Mayssa & Nour were going too. I had secured myself emotionally with the presence of them both. Hiba D was there too in addition to more familiar faces that made the ambiance a very friendly one. The ride was supposed to start @ 8:30 but the ppl who needed to rent a bike needed to be there earlier. To my surprise, Al Jazeera was reporting the event and asked me, Nour & Mayssa to say”بالأسكلة عل بسكلة” together while riding & so we did almost crashing with their camera!
When it was time, all bikers took off from the starting line.. Only a few minutes later, I discovered that I had more heart than feet to go on. It was my third time to bike and I couldn’t keep up with the others. It was the first time for me to ride next to cars, ppl & other bikers & I tripped and fell so many times and was obviously very late behind the group..
I am truly thankful to Omar for staying around Hiba and I. Hiba, a beginner just like me was having hard times, too. When we reached the Olympic stadium, the group almost reached the starting point so we decided to return and catch up with them there.
It’s true I missed out on most parts of the journey, especially the part where they went to the boat maker but to me it felt like an accomplishment. I went back home with bruises but nothing back then would make happier. Sometimes, a simple task like bike riding can make your day. I know I won’t be joining any future events before I train more but at least I know now what I’m capable of.
